Natsume Yuujinchou

Natsume's just an ordinary kid, except he can see spirits, just like his grandma Reiko could. Reiko, though, used to bully the spirits, and bound them to her will in the "Book of Friends". Now that Natsume has inherited this book, a never-ending stream of spirits is coming after him. With the help of a spirit "cat" (who really just wants Natsume to die so he can have the book), Natsume spends his days dissolving the contracts that bind the spirits and trying not to get killed.

It's a fair effort at serious fantasy with enough atmosphere and original premise. But I don't see a lot of plot potential and the most interesting character is restricted to flashbacks, since she's been dead along time. I probably won't look for another episode.

While this series might be more laid back than action freaks might endure to watch, I find it enjoyable, refreshing change from the standard faire of shows. While the main character is bit introvert due to his ability to see spirits, he's slowly learning from those spirits who knew is grandmother, that his disability may be his greatest asset.
